Exciting new initiative benefits FIM Sidecar World Championship

The FIM is delighted to announce a major initiative from Eckart Rösinger and Mike Breitenbach, through their newly-launched Sidecar Partner organisation, designed to benefit the FIM Sidecar World Championship by attracting full grids of competitors.

At the heart of the initiative is a move to reduce entry fees and ease the entry process for crews looking to compete at the sport’s very highest level.

Passionate supporters of this unique and exciting discipline, both Rösinger and Breitenbach know first-hand the stresses and strains of competition and the German pairing have also turned their attention to providing on-site paddock support, aimed at improving the race weekend experience across the board.

Breitenbach, who has competed as both a rider and passenger, said: “In consultation with the FIM, we have made it our mission to reduce entry fees with our partners for the competing teams. Together with the regulation changes already agreed upon last year, we aim to facilitate easier entry into the world championship for the teams, thereby promoting a full starting grid and helping the championship to move forward.

“We also want to provide on-site support in the paddock to the teams, the FIM, the organisers and the timekeeping team, making the weekend easier and more enjoyable for everyone. This includes everything from paddock set-up and pit-lane allocation to livestreaming and live timing links, practice and race results, race reports and more, all the way through to Sunday evening!

“We are looking forward to embarking together on the path to a successful future for our beloved Sidecar class. A full grid equals full action – so let’s go!”

Paul King, FIM Circuit Racing Commission Director, added: “On behalf of the FIM I wish to thank Eckart Rösinger and Mike Breitenbach for their forward-thinking approach to a sport than inspires great passion in its followers. There is a real feeling of excitement building towards the 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship and I’m confident we can look forward to an incredibly positive season of close, competitive racing.

The six-round 2026 FIM Sidecar World Championship is set to get under way on 17-18 April at Le Mans in France as part of the famous 24 Heures Motos at the Circuit Bugatti with subsequent rounds scheduled for Croatia, France, Italy and the Netherlands before the series concludes in Germany on 3-4 October.
