FIM attends eMobility Expo – MOW 2026 World Congress

FIM President Jorge Viegas and FIM Technical & Safety Department Director Dominique Hébrard were delighted to be invited to speak at the eMobility Expo – MOW 2026 World Congress that hosted Europe’s key debate on the future energy model for mobility through to 2050, held on March 10-11 in Málaga, Spain.

Attended by over five-thousand professionals in the field with more than two-hundred exhibiting companies and three-hundred-and-seventy-six international speakers, the congress emphasised the vital importance of developing the eMobility sector in shaping the sustainability of transportation and addressed the transport energy transition, focussing on batteries and hydrogen.

In a detailed presentation on the development and use of Eco-fuels and electric motorcycles in FIM competition, Mr Hébrard stated how racing provided the ideal environment for the FIM’s continued exploration of experimental technologies that are key to the future of motorcycle sport.

Stressing the importance of finding the correct balance between ecology, economy and performance, the presentation explained FIM Eco-fuels strategies and highlighted the use of fuels derived from renewable (non-fossil) sources with emphasis on the sustainability of renewable sources including plants, waste or captured carbon.

Outlining the significant collaboration with FIA fuels experts to address the challenges shared between Formula 1 and MotoGP, Mr Hébrard shone a spotlight on the ground-breaking developmental work being carried out in the Experimental Class of the FIM Endurance World Championship where alternative energies – including electricity and hydrogen projects – are being explored.

Also touching on the use of electric motorcycles in the highly-specialised field of FIM Land Speed World Records as well as disciplines including MotoE™, SuperEnduro, Supercross, EnduroGP, ISDE, Bajas and Hard Enduro, the presentation examined the technical challenges the FIM faces in facilitating the use of renewable and sustainable energy sources.

FIM President Jorge Viegas stated: “It is vital that we address the issues of sustainable transport and their direct effect on competition motorcycling so we were only too pleased to attend eMobility Expo and share our vision with acknowledged world experts in the field. This is an incredibly exciting time with ongoing technological advancements in alternative energies and the FIM is proud to be in the vanguard of this movement.”
