Belgium is synonymous with motocross. Steeped in history, the country has produced some of the sport’s greatest champions and hosted iconic races. And yet, when it comes to enduro, and the Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship, it is a country that’s always fallen behind in stature… that is until now.
Enter Sherco Racing Factory’s Antoine Magain. The 28-year-old Belgian is beginning to make serious waves in the EnduroGP paddock, and 2025 stands as his greatest opportunity yet to deliver Belgium their long-overdue, debut FIM Enduro World Championship.
Contesting the Enduro3 class, Antoine is currently locked in a titanic battle with his teammate Hamish Macdonald for top honours. Already a race winner in 2025 at the GP of Spain, he lies second overall, just 12 points behind Hamish in the title fight. In EnduroGP, he’s fifth overall and consistently knocking on the door of a debut podium too.
On the cusp of a career-best season in EnduroGP, and potentially, a world title, Antoine is quietly and assertively putting Belgium on the enduro map.
“I was actually a late starter to bikes,” tells Antoine, when quizzed over his chosen career path in motorcycles. “I was probably too late to chase the motocross dream, but with enduro, it was possible. In the end, it was what I was more interested in too.”

Chipping away at his racing, he’s now a five-time Belgian champion and twice champion in both the French and Spanish national series. He’s also collected a bronze medal in the Enduro1 and Enduro3 World Championships.
But it was at last year’s rain-soaked GP of Italy where he finally took a maiden race win in Enduro3. A momentous occasion, it also marked the first time in recent history that a Belgian rider stood on the top step of an FIM Enduro World Championship podium.
“To take that win in Italy on day two was an amazing feeling,” recalls Antoine. “It was a tough race, the conditions were incredibly muddy, and the battle was intense.
“Standing on the top step of the Enduro3 podium was incredible. It was nice to prove that I can be there, that I can be competitive at this level. The belief it gave me encourages me to push now and achieve more.”
As the only Belgian rider currently full-time in the EnduroGP category, it’s hoped the trickle-down effect of his success will encourage fellow countrymen and women to follow in his wheel tracks. This year, Hugo Vukcevic (Sherco) is entered in the Youth class, hopefully in the years to come, we’ll see many more.
“For sure, I hope that with myself racing in EnduroGP it creates more interest for the Belgian enduro scene, and helps it to grow,” he considers. “It would be cool to think that younger riders from home look towards me and what I’m doing in EnduroGP and follow this path too.”
