The fourth round of the Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship in Fafe, Portugal, marked a triumphant return to the top step of the podium for TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon.
For TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon, Fafe in Portugal is becoming a special place for the Frenchman. Home to his debut EnduroGP class win at the 2025 season opener, Pichon has gone and won again in Fafe, this time at round four of the 2026 championship.
After a relatively tough start to his season, marred by a broken thumb, the Frenchman used that winning feeling of Fafe to find his stride again.
A strong ride on Saturday, where he won all three special tests on the final lap, to finish second overall in EnduroGP and first in Enduro2, was soon trumped on Sunday thanks to his EnduroGP and Enduro2 wins.
Crossing the finish line of the final Expotrade Cross Test, Pichon’s emotions were clear to see. It was a victory hard fought for, and one that meant a lot.
“After the last lap on day one I knew my speed was good and so I immediately tried to start with that rhythm on day two,” told Zach on Sunday evening.
“I felt strong all day, despite a difficult final lap. But I fought to the finish and got my first EnduroGP win of the season.
“The whole weekend was good. Initially on day one, I was a bit off the pace on the first two laps, but I managed to catch back up to the speed of where I needed to be on the final lap.”
So what is it about Fafe that works so well for Zach? And with the championship staying here for round five this weekend, he must be feeling good about his chances of finishing on the top step of the podium again!
“Honestly, for sure, I don’t know why Fafe is so good to me. I like the tests and layout — it seems to work for me.
“The heat and dust have been difficult though, so the focus is to recover as best we can. Rest as much as possible and do some cycling because on Wednesday it’s time to start walking the tests all over again.
“But I’m looking forward to racing here next weekend, and with the way I’ve just ridden, I hope I can do the same results!”
