Triumph Italia Racing’s Morgan Lesiardo secures breakthrough ride at EnduroGP of Italy

This weekend’s Polisport GP of Italy won’t be forgotten in a hurry, least of all by Triumph Italia Racing’s Morgan Lesiardo.

The Italian claimed his maiden victory in the Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship by winning the Enduro1 class on day two, while also collecting his debut EnduroGP podium as a result.

Adding further cause for celebration, Morgan’s maiden win also marked Triumph’s first-ever victory in the world championship. And with all of this coming on home soil for Lesiardo and Triumph Italia Racing, it proved to be an incredible Polisport GP of Italy for them.

“I’m tired but really happy,” beamed an exhausted and ecstatic Morgan Lesiardo at the end of day two in Italy. “To take my first victory in the world championship, and also finish second in EnduroGP, is an incredible way to end my home GP here in Italy. I think winning at home like this means something more too.”

With the opportunity to win day two on the line, Morgan immediately found that extra 10 per cent needed and went on the attack. The Italian’s pace was nothing short of outstanding. Winning all four of the ACERBIS Cross Tests outright saw him battle for his first EnduroGP podium, while fighting to win Enduro1.

“When I understood that it was possible to win, it was difficult to keep the emotion inside and focus on the race,” he said. “As a team, we did an amazing job. Between the rain and the sun, conditions were hard out there. But they were always spotting lines for me.

“I’m happy to have managed this feeling and brought the win home for them. It’s also the first victory for Triumph in the world championship, so there is a lot of emotion right now, it’s hard to describe.”

Riding like a composed veteran in Darfo Boario Terme, it’s hard to tell that the Italian is still only a relative newcomer to EnduroGP. However, it’s clear his hard work behind the scenes is paying off.

“This is only my third year in EnduroGP. I’m still learning all of the time and gaining experience. I understand more how to train for EnduroGP and I’m trying to make improvements in myself.

“Also, before the GP of Portugal, we made some more improvements to the bike. In Portugal, I was able to take a top-five overall result in the EnduroGP class. Today, with the chance of victory right there, we were able to give it that little bit more.”

With his maiden victory secured, it elevates him to third overall in the Enduro1 standings as we approach the seventh and final round in Germany next month.

Time will tell if he can close out 2025 with some world championship silverware. But we can be sure that with Morgan’s newfound combination of speed and confidence, he won’t be giving up without a fight!
